Or, golfers can buy three cards and get a fourth card free. "There is still time to play plenty of golf and enjoy playing many of the 150 different North Carolina courses listed on the card, or a couple of South Carolina courses," a lung association spokesperson said. Oak Island’s August winners Winners have been announced for the Oak Island Women’s Golf Associ ation for the month of August August 3 — Nassau — front nine, Lib Brooks; back nine, Florence Greene; total, Betty Wilson. Oyster race scheduled October 15 Runners of all ages are invited to participate in the 14th annual North Carolina Oyster Festival road races Saturday, October IS, at a new course location in Sea Trail Planta tion. Races include a one-mile fun run, 5K and 10K events. Participants will compete in male and female divi sions according to age group. Age divisions do not apply to the one mile fun run. Trophies will be awarded to the top four male and female finishers in each age division. Also, trophies will be given to the top four male and female finishers in the fun run. All awards will be presented after the race at the site of the North Carolina Oyster Festival at the inter section of highways 904 and 179 in Seaside/Sunset Beach. Pre-registration applications are available at the South Brunswick Is lands Chamber of Commerce in Shallotte. The cost to pre-register is $8 until October 7 and includes an official North Carolina Oyster Festi val T-shirt. Registration will be held at the Jones/Byrd Clubhouse, Sea Trail Plantation, Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. Runners who did not pre-register may register the day of the races for $12, which also in cludes an Oyster Festival T-shirt. Va., is scheduled March 13, 1995, by the Brunswick County Parks and Recreation Department The group will stay in a slope-side condominium for three nights and ski for two days. The total trip cost will be $267.50, which includes transportation, eight meals, two days of lift tickets, three night’s lodging and ski rentals. There will be a deposit of $74.47 due by October 15. Space will be limited and participants must be at least 21 years ofage. WGA has member/member Oak Island WGA’s Member/Member Tournament was held September 7. Winners of the nine-hole captain’s choice and nine-hole alternating shots event were: First place, Joan Van Noordt and Faye Van Hoy; second, Betty Finnegan and Wanda Pulley; third, Marina Teny and Gay Morris; fourth, Lucy Gray and Dot Moran; closest to the pin, Harriet Buff and Dee Young; closest to the line, Dee Young. Fox Squirrel event planned Fox Squirrel Country Club will hold its annual men’s golf championship tournament September 24-25. This will be the 25th year for the event, and a full field is expected. Deadline for entry is September 22. Forms should be left at the pro shop. Oak Island Invitational set The Oak Island Invitational Golf Tournament will be held September 23 25 at Oak Island Golf and Country Club. More than $4,000 in prizes will be awarded to winners. The entry fee of $90 per person includes greens fees and cart rental. A practice round will be played Friday and the first round of the tourna ment will be Saturday.
